2000 GMC Sonoma (S10) 4x4 289,813 kms $1000 Mechanic special or a great parts car! Runs and drives but needs work, particularly clutch and suspension The good – Lots of recent work and new parts, passed out of province inspection December 2018: New battery Aug 2020, new radiator July 2020, pitman and idler arms this summer, distributor cap& rotor Sept 2019, spark plug wires 2019, new alternator summer 2018, CV axle and front wheel bearings 2018/19, back door handle mechanism replaced late 2018, Fuel pump, windshield, ball joints all replaced December 2018, Cam& Crank sensors Oct. 2018, intake gaskets & bolts Aug 2018, brakes and rotors 2017, spark plugs I think in 2018 but lost the receipt. Oil changed just before I bought a new truck Matching canopy included if you want it – back door/window on the canopy has been replaced with wood/plexiglass. Has never given me any engine or transmission issues (beyond current check engine light) Total of 11 tires included: 5 M+S (two excellent grabbers, 2 should be replaced soon, 1 medium has been in the bed as a spare; 4 winters on rims, 2 more unmounted winters with good tread, 1 of which may have a small hole needing patch) 235/75r15 The bad – The theftlock had been triggered, and makes the lights flash. The previous owner didn’t recall the code. Can be disabled in the short term by disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, but I think you’d need to talk to the dealer about an override code. Hopefully at no cost. Needs some clutch work…. Either the clutch bearing or flywheel. Something with the suspension. After a bump, there’s a wobble in the back for a few seconds. Check engine light is on and flashes sometimes when cruising at a consistent speed for a while. Error code reader gives p0300 code. A bunch of the recent work was in response to this code. There doesn’t seem to be any symptoms associated with this while driving Some body rust, dents and dings from previous owner. Nothing causing problems with the function.
