Description

Great bones for an off-road XJ project or restoration. 1989 Jeep Cherokee Limited XJ 4-door SUV. Has not been on road since 2008, one owner since 1995. Very Solid body, welded metal rocker panel repair performed some years ago, floors really good but now requires a small patch on drivers floor, fenders replaced, repainted from beltline down with gravel guard on rockers (Black Cherry metallic with gold Limited striping), but some areas of clear coat starting to fail. Body would easily pass safety with small floor patch. New and perfect windshield, rest of glass original and nice shape. Grey leather interior, no seat tears, carpet decent, dash nice but headliner starting to sag. Top of the line model with power everything, A/C, tinted windows, manual glass sunroof. Factory adjustable roof rack. Low mileage 1998 4.0 liter HO straight 6 cylinder engine installed but fuel system and ancillaries not installed so currently not running but ran well before transplant. Very torquey engine, great for off-road, relatively easy on fuel. Cylinder head was refreshed and mild bowl port work performed. Dynomax 2-1/2” mandrel bent performance exhaust, K&N air filter, performance spark plug wires. 4-speed AW-4 auto trans, NP-242 Select-Trac full-time/part time transfer case (mechanical center differential, 2.72:1 low range), driveline was working fine when vehicle parked. Dana 30 high pinion front diff (non-disconnect axles), Dana 35 posi rear diff, 3.54:1 gear ratio. 5000lb. tow rating (installed Class 3 hitch with Tekonsha electric brake controller added). Great combination for boat or trailer hauling or off-road fun. Asking $2000 for base vehicle with major parts to make it a runner. Loads of spare parts also available at extra cost: BNIB oversize ABS fender flares included. extra copper/brass rad, intake manifold and throttle body, exhaust header, front header panel and chrome grille, hood, both driveshafts and much more. Also available: Up-Country front coil and rear leaf springs (higher ride height), factory skid plate package (front and fuel tank), rare heavy-duty Dana 44 rear axle (trailer tow package, matching 3.54 gearing but non-posi), transmission and 242 T-case, BNIB Rough Country dropped pitman arm. Later model 5-spoke alloy wheels and 235/75R-15 tires presently installed but also have original gold cross-laced alum wheels (5) or 10-hole Sport alloy wheels (5). Have TOD, is eligible for MPI Collector Car plates at reduced insurance rates. Rare factory shop manual and both Chilton and Haynes manuals available. All parts necessary to reassemble are included. Need to move it along (too many projects), price negotiable depending on all what extra parts you want or dont want, but all reasonable offers considered. Hate to let it go but it needs a new home.
