Description

Excellent example of an MR2 Spyder in "Absolutely Red". It has just under 85,800 MILES on it at the time of posting. Please keep in mind this is Miles not kilometers as this car was not sold in Canada. These vehicles were sold in the United States and this is originally a California car and we are the second owners. This is a car that handles amazingly which one would probably expect from Mid-Engine and fairly lightweight rear wheel drive car. It has a 6 speed sequential manual transmission (SMT). For those that dont know these cars, the system does have a clutch, throwout bearing and pressure plate exactly like a standard transmission car but the clutch is operated hydraulically. For the driver what this means is you do have to shift but you do not have a clutch pedal so even if youve never driven a standard you can operate this. Im always amazed at the downshifts and how it matches revs so perfectly, something Ive always worked on but never got anywhere near as accurate as this. You can shift either on the floor or from the steering wheel. Think of it like a semi-automatic. Closest thing these days in operation are the dual clutch performance cars with this being a single clutch. Engine is mainly stock except for a cold air intake that the previous owner installed and a Fidanza lightweight alloy flywheel that I had installed when it last needed a new clutch. Suspension was modified by the previous owner and it is quite a bit stiffer than stock with aftermarket RH Evolution wheels. They are fitted all around with 205/40/r17 84w Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 tires. I do have the original wheels as well which look practically brand new. We only insure it for about four or five months of the year during the warm weather and our portion of the ownership has been largely highway driving on the Sunshine Coast Highway from here to Vancouver and back. Well maintained by us with oil changes every 6 months regardless of mileage with full synthetic oil. Convertible top is like new. A few maintenance highlights include: About 7,300 miles on new clutch kit, rear main seal, new lightweight flywheel, gear oil, two new axle shafts and seals. About 5,300 miles on new tires About 4,000 miles on new battery About 1,800 miles new valve cover gasket. I have quite a few parts which the purchaser of the vehicle can have right of first refusal on if they want to purchase any of them separately - All are New and Uninstalled - Short Block, Hydraulic Pump Unit (HPU), SS Dual Exhaust System, Oil Cooler, Moroso High Capacity Performance Oil Pan, Adjustable Suspension, Colour Matched Mud Flaps and more.
