Silver Grand Highlander Hybrid XLE, and the kilometres on it are very low for the year. This is the big Highlander, the one Toyota built because the regular Highlander was never quite roomy enough in the third row, and it is the vehicle a lot of families actually need instead of the one they settle for.
The hybrid powertrain is the reason to buy it. A 2.5L four cylinder works with Toyota’s hybrid system and electronic all-wheel drive, and it returns fuel economy that a three row SUV this size has no business returning. No plugging in, no range planning, no change to how you drive. It just uses less fuel, particularly around town where a big gas V6 drinks hardest.
The third row is the point. Adults fit back there, which is not true of most of the competition, and there is still real cargo space behind it rather than a token slot. Fold the third row and you have a load bay that will take a hockey bag for every kid in the car.
XLE brings heated front seats, tri-zone climate, a power liftgate, keyless entry and start, wireless charging, the big touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the full Toyota Safety Sense suite with adaptive cruise, lane keeping, pre-collision braking and blind spot monitoring.
Certified and safety inspected before delivery, with the Carfax available on request. If you are shopping three row SUVs and doing the arithmetic on fuel over four or five years, the hybrid is worth a serious look against the gas ones.
